SECTION 08 • MODERATION & JUSTICE

Enforcement & Appeals

The tiered escalation system for violations, restriction boundaries, and our human appeal review process.

Appeals Protocol Effective September 2026

1. Fair & Proportional Moderation

When reports are submitted by users, our trust and safety specialists review the evidence with care. Enforcement is calibrated proportionally according to violation severity, context, and the account's historical conduct.

2. Enforcement Tiers

Tier 1 — Formal Warning: Issued for minor, first-time infractions. The user receives an in-app notice identifying the violated policy and requiring acknowledgment.
Tier 2 — Feature Limitation: Temporary restriction of specific privileges (e.g. inability to initiate chats with non-mutual contacts or add new connections for 24 hours to 7 days).
Tier 3 — Temporary Account Suspension: Total account lock ranging from 7 to 30 days for repeated harassment, spamming, or disruptive conduct.
Tier 4 — Permanent Account & Device Ban: Irrevocable termination of the registered account and hardware-level restrictions for severe violations, such as child exploitation, violent threats, or organized fraud.

3. The Appeals Process

We recognize that automated flags or mistaken context can occasionally lead to wrongful enforcement. Every user possesses the right to request a formal human review:

Filing Window: Appeals must be submitted within 30 calendar days of the enforcement notice.
Submission Method: Send an email to appeals@bias.app specifying your registered telephone number, username, and an objective explanation of why the action was in error.
Independent Human Review: Appeals are reviewed by a senior safety specialist who was not involved in the original decision. If determined to be mistaken, all restrictions are lifted immediately and account standing is restored.
Finality: Decisions rendered upon second-tier appeal review are final. Repeated, frivolous, or abusive appeal submissions will be disregarded.
