1. Current System Capabilities
We believe in direct transparency regarding what our application currently supports without obscuring operational realities:
Current In-App Limitation: The mobile client does not currently feature an automated, instant "Delete My Account" button inside client Settings. Account deactivation and permanent account closure requests are currently processed manually by our privacy operations team.
To request account deactivation, restriction, or permanent deletion, you must submit a written request to privacy@bias.app from or referencing your verified registered telephone number.
2. Closure Options Explained
Temporary Deactivation: Your profile is hidden from search and suggestion lists. Your active sessions are revoked. You will not receive message notifications. Your account can be reactivated upon re-authenticating with your phone number.
Permanent Deletion: Your username (@handle) is released. Your profile data (avatar, bio, display name) is permanently purged from production databases. Active conversations are disconnected.
3. What Data May Be Retained
Even after a deletion request is processed, certain operational and security data may be retained in isolated archival logs for legitimate, legally recognized purposes:
Security & Audit Trails: Timestamp records of account creation, password changes, and deletion events.
Abuse & Fraud Records: Hashed phone number records associated with confirmed violations (such as spamming, harassment, or financial fraud) to prevent banned actors from re-registering.
Legal Compliance: Records subject to mandatory statutory retention laws or ongoing law enforcement inquiries.
4. Effect on Recipient Chat History
Deleting your account purges your profile and personal records on our servers. However, messages and media you previously delivered to other conversation participants remain in their local chat histories unless those individuals choose to delete their own local copies.
