Responsibilities, credential protection rules, and protocols for keeping your Bias account safe.
Security Protocol•Effective September 2026
1. Safeguarding Credentials
You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of all login credentials associated with your Bias account, including your verified phone number, account password, and one-time authentication codes.
Crucial Security Rule: Never share your verification codes (SMS OTPs) or account password with another person under any circumstances. No member of the Bias team will ever contact you asking for your password or verification codes.
2. Telephone Number Responsibility
Your Bias account is fundamentally tied to the phone number you verify during registration:
Active Number Maintenance: If you change your carrier phone number, you must immediately update it inside the app under Settings → Account & Security → Change Phone Number before relinquishing control of the old number.
Recycled Number Risk: If your former carrier reassigns your inactive phone number to a new subscriber, and your account was not updated or protected by a strong password, account access could become compromised.
No Shared Numbers: Registering accounts with public, shared virtual, or rented temporary numbers is prohibited and may trigger automatic security restrictions.
3. Password Standards & Updates
We encourage setting a unique, resilient password specifically for Bias:
Do not reuse passwords from email providers, banking applications, or other social platforms.
Update your password regularly or immediately if you suspect unauthorized device activity.
4. Suspected Unauthorized Access
If you observe messages you did not send, unrecognized login alerts, or sudden profile modifications:
Immediately change your password in Settings → Account & Security.
Contact our security desk at security@bias.app to request a session purge across all active devices.
